10 Home Decor Trends & Objects You’ll See in 2016

THE New Year often brings with it a renewed enthusiasm for smartening up your home. Naturally, it makes sense to choose according to your personal tastes and style. Here are some in home design which will become more popular this 2016.

1. Marble EVERYTHING
Marble has been very popular in home renovations over the last couple of years... marble countertops are becoming more and more prevalent, as are marble tiled floors and backsplashes. But now the luxe material is even showing its face in lots of DIY projects for the home.

2. Hexagons, Hexagons, Hexagons

They are starting to pop up all over the internet - from storage and wall decor to floor tiles and backsplashes. Trust me, you'll see them all over the place now.

3. Brass Accents
For a while it was gold. Then copper. And now it is brass... the go-to metal to add a bit of glamour and originality to your space. And it's not just confined to the bathroom - brass accents look great anywhere in the house.

4. Unique Ceiling Ideas

Ceilings are starting to receive more attention than they ever have.  But a great ceiling design, whether it is in the living room or the dining area, the kitchen or the bedroom, can give a room a unique, inimitable and individual character that also leaves an indelible impression in the minds of those who step in.

5. Faux Fur

It's cozy, warm and soft... what's not to love?! Smaller faux furs are being draped over chairs all over the place, and large faux fur rugs are becoming super trendy as well.
6. Home Office
More people are working from home or bringing work home, so a dedicated office space is essential, even if it was once a walk-in closet. Having a dedicated space allows one to separate work from home, instead of working on the dining room table.

7. Sunrooms
2016 is the year of natural light. While some can afford to add on a sunroom, others are just increasing the light flow into main living spaces in their homes. So trade in your dark blinds for sheer drapes and utilize light colors to make rooms brighter.

8. Colour Trends – Jewel Tones to Pastels
Before I say that color is coming on with full force, I want to be clear that white is still hugely on point in the interiors world. What I love about the new color trends though is that they’re very diverse. Thanks to Pantone’s colors of the year, there will most definitely be a rise in the pretty, soft pastels. But on the other side of things, jewel tones are making a huge comeback and going dark is uber glamorous.

9. LARGE MIRRORS
Large mirrors dramatically transform modern living spaces. They can be used to create illusions, make rooms look larger, & act as centerpieces from time to time. Using one right in front of a blank wall can work wonders in ways beyond your imagination for the light-hearted souls who are open to have some fun.

10. Back to Nature

Decorators are expected to continue using more potted plants, green walls, plant-inspired items, greenery art and accessories. The good news is that there’s greenery out there to suit everyone’s tastes. Whether you prefer cacti, artificial plants or an urban garden, it’s a good way to inject beauty, tranquility and an earthy feel into your living space.
